Pathfinder Society

Postby Teresake on Tue Oct 14, 2008 6:59 pm

Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 6pm, we will be having a "meet & greet" at the Armoury for Pathfinder Society. Come to learn more about the Pathfinder Society, and meet other Pathfinders. Information will be provided, as well as some snacks.

For more information, keep reading.

What is the Pathfinder Society?
PFS is the official organized play created by Paizo, developers of the Pathfinder Campaign Setting. It is basically a massive, world-wide game in which players from all over the world use the same rules and participate in many of the same scenarios. You play a Pathfinder, a member of the Society who travels Golarion in search of fame, fortune, and glory. You are also a member of a secret faction, and subtly try to advance your faction's goals. At the end of each Season (about a year's length, beginning with GenCon and ending with Origins), the faction whose goals were advanced the most will earn an even more coveted prestige.

How many people can play?
PFS scenarios are run with a minimum of four players, and a maximum of six. Because this is organized play and we adhere to strict guidelines, no single group can accommodate more than six players.

Can I reserve a spot in advance?
Not at first, and reservations will largely depend on three things: one, the number of interested players; two, the number of available game masters, and three, the space available.

What do I need to bring?
To the first scenario, and every scenario after, players must bring the following: your character sheet and PFS number; some manner of writing utensil; a set of standard dice (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20); all of your chronicle sheets from previous scenarios, and a heavy dose of enthusiasm!

How long will the game last?
PFS Scenarios are designed to be run in a four-hour time slot. The scenario typically lasts 3-3.5 hours, and then there's some extra time needed before and after for a bit of administrative stuff. The length, as in most games, will always depend on the party.

Do I have to know how to play? What if I have never played a role-playing game before?
While some experience with 3.5 rules is preferred, beginners are welcome. PFS is a great way to get into the game, and you'll find that most of the other players are patient and willing to accommodate new gamers. If you're new to the game, I strongly encourage you to come to the "meet, greet, and get to know PFS" session on Oct. 21 at 6pm.
