A Mantic Painting Event

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Have you ever wanted anybody to show you step by step how to paint all those lovely little miniatures that you game with? Well now’s your chance. On Saturday, August 28th, Armoury Games is holding a 4 hour painting seminar. To be eligible to participate you must purchase one of the Mantic paints sets. There are two to choose from, each comes with Army Painter brand paints, a brush and miniatures. We’ll prime the miniatures for you and then teach you how to paint them covering color choices, base coating, washing, highlighting, drybrushing and finishing techniques. There will also be a demonstration covering the use of Quickshade. The event begins at 1pm and runs until 5pm.

The paint sets must be purchased from Armoury Games and may be purchased prior to or on the day of the event. Additional painting supplies may be purchased on the day of the event at a special discount to all participants. All miniatures from the paint set must be made available to Armoury Games staff for priming before the beginning of the event at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 28th.

Armoury Games Painting Day!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Greetings ladies and gentlemen, Ryan here! I just wanted to take a moment to let you know of my first event coming up. Armoury Games will be hosting a painting day next Saturday, June 12th starting at 1pm!

I know many of us have miniatures we’ve been putting off painting, so why not bring them in and work on them together? Painting days are an excellent opportunity to jump start your own armies, share tips with others, and receive advice on your own work. I will be on hand to answer any questions regarding miniature painting or modeling you may have, as well as working on several of my own Warmachine models.

Water pots will be provided, but I do ask that you please provide your own paints, brushes, and palettes as I simply do not have enough to go around. Bruce has also asked that any miniatures you are planning on painting be primered before you bring them in on the 12th to prevent any issues involving the weather and congregating behind the building.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself or Bruce. I look forward to seeing all that can make it out on the 12th!

- Ryan

Comic Book Nostalgia Days

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

When I was a kid, there was nothing I loved more than when my Dad took me to the newsstand in search of the latest comics.  For the dollar that was in my pocket, I could walk out of there with four brand new installments of my favorite characters’ exploits. Yes, I remember well, and with a tear in my eye, when comics were a quarter.  Now a single issue will cost what I could have used to by twelve comic books when I was that snot-nosed kid at the newsstand.

To commemorate those nostalgic days of yesteryear, Armoury Games is offering up a special deal.  From Wednesday, Nov. 25th, through Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, all back issues – those are the books in the long, white boxes – are only a quarter each. That’s right, regardless of the printed cover price, each back issue is only one quarter each!

And just to see if you are paying attention, if you mention that you read about this sale on the website, you will be able to earn stamps on your Smithy’s Swag Card for your comic purchase – sale items are not normally counted for determining stamps earned.

The quarter per issue sale price applies to back issues only, not including comics on the comic display wall or comics being held in personal pull files. Sale items not eligible to earn Smithy’s Swag Stamps except as mentioned above.

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

The painting contest was a rousing success.  We had eight great submissions and the judging was tough.  A panel of independent judges deliberated at length to decide the winners and in the end still ended up with a tie for first place. So, without further ado, the winners are. . .

  • Tied for 1st & 2nd – Ryan Navratil’s Trollblood Impaler & Adam Matthews’ Normans
  • 3rd place goes to Mark Guirreri’s Throne of Power
  • 4th place goes to Chris O’Reilly’s Squat
  • A hearty thanks to our other contestants: Alan Hoch, Anthony Rogers, Will Dupree and Larry Curtiss.

All the painting on these models are suberb!

Look for more painting contests in the future.
